7:30 am bright and early this morning the beautiful country of Ireland welcomed me and my fellow Milwaukee Chapter Young Ambassador, Hannah. We then met up with most of the other young ambassadors in the Dublin Airport before heading north in a rather squished van with Dr. Tim to our home for the next 2 weeks just outside of Bangor. We'll be staying in the quaint little Rosevale Cottages in Crawfordsburn. Coming the half mile drive down a tiny one-way road surrounded by open fields of grazing cows and being greeted by the lovely couple, David and Anna, who own the picturesque cottages and their giant Irish Wolf Hound named Fergle and their other dog Tigger - if you've never seen one of these dogs before, google that now...
Tim then drove us into Bangor so we could pick up the last YA from the train station and grab a "wee" bite for take-away. As Tim tells us, using "wee" is extremely popular in the North and not used nearly as much in the Republic of Ireland and we should get used to hearing slang like this during our stay.
He also clued us in a bit as to where our placements will be for the next week. I will be working with the Ulster Scotts Agency with Kathryn from the Albany Chapter, but whereabouts as to what we'll be doing is largely still to be determined which is pretty typical - afterall, we are on Irish time now and making plans far in advance is not the norm.
Tonight we'll be headed into Belfast with David and Tim for the Tall Ships Festival.
